mimecentrum - the mime festival

The festival takes place every year during the second week of October and is here to keep people up to date with the evolution of this discipline. Founded in 1997 it was brought to life in order to introduce and widen the intrest of the audience for mime performances from all over the world. In 2000 the festival created a international price for new mime artists : The PinokkioPrice. With this prize, we aim to stimulate young and/or debutant mimes creations. why Pinokkio? Because with words we can lie, but the body never lies. Because Pinokkio experienced it closely, he became our godfather. This prize is awarded by an international jury and the winner gets 1250 €
	DE STILTE DOORBROKEN 6 The Belgian Mimefestival is a successful and expanding festival. The need for rising the international interest and combine cultural events and tourism, leaded us to the hilly Hageland. Mime theatre sure goes well in a cosy city. The cultural site of the Cultural Centre at Aarschot ( the theatre “ Burgerlijk Gasthuis”, the Saint-Elisabeth chapel and outdoor locations) in the middle of the charming Hageland is offering new possibilitys. Order one great tourist arrangement and your theatre tickets is free of charge. With this years programme we neither saved time nor costs. The 2002 edition is splendid, with even 9 theatre shows in a Belgian premiere! 14 Top-acts from Russia, Spain, Brazil, Germany , France, Chechnia, Belgium and Mexico, all important artist and modern productions. The festival has changed course : up to date productions by young creators for a ‘young’ audience. Therefore we considered our entrance prices. Standard prices are € 10 and € 15.
Booking three different ‘expensive’ shows, you’ll pay € 35. Booking five different ‘expensive’ shows, you’ll pay only ten euro a show. For some productions the available seats are limited, so don’t hesitate. We contain the diversity in our programme-offer. We didn’t forget ‘traditional’ productions, still we payed a lot attention to to-day’s and experimental productions. ‘Six’ isn’t a party number but this 6th. edition of the 2002 International Mimefestival in Aarschot, starting Friday, Oct. 4th. till Sunday, Oct. 13th will be one to remember!!!!
